A major international player in the paint and coating industry, Penn Color Technology Center is a dedicated space for both product designers and users to collaborate and expand on their creativity from design to actualisation.

Translating Penn Color’s brand ethos, our interior scheme for its first design centre in Asia drew on characteristics that parallel its brand experience with Asian hospitality to reimagine what a creative-meets-technologist workspace would be like. Through the process, we arrived at a spatial strategy that leverages the V-shaped, single level floor plan and sensitively but dynamically collages the various spaces by functionality (i.e. client meetings, team discussions and deep work) and outcomes (i.e. creative collaboration, cross-pollination of ideas and optimal productivity). Deliberately borderless, it maintains visibility and fluidity of space and movement, engendering an environment for authentic collaboration and creative ideation.

Aesthetically, our design scheme prioritised three things – simplicity, sustainability and user-centricity; drawing inspiration from nuances of Asian hospitality. The outcome is altogether unassuming, honest and warm; achieved through the use of simple, unembellished materials that demonstrate a prosaic and organic quality.
