Dessy Budhianto

Dessy’s extensive experience is characterised by a versatile design sensibility cultivated across diverse typologies. Upon completing her Master of Design in 2002, she spent her foundational years in furniture and residential design which paved the way for her tenure in hospitality design at Hirsch Bedner Associates Singapore.
She brought her experience and expertise to DP Architects (DPA) in 2008, joining as a key member of the team that completed the hotels and Casino at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore, and later, in DP Design where she expanded her portfolio and pushed her design capabilities with an exciting range of project types. These include retail developments the Dubai Mall Fashion Avenue in the UAE, Heartland 66 in China and The Exchange TRX in Malaysia; leisure and entertainment spaces such as Cinemaxx Junior in Indonesia; cultural institutions like that of the Singapore Dance Theatre; and, hospitality developments The Grand Hilai in Taiwan and Yotel Ginza in Japan.
Designing for people and to contribute a more delightful lived experience sits at the centre of Dessy’s design approach. Her work ethos underscores the critical importance of meticulous attention to detail at every stage of a project, enabling her to create timeless and impactful spaces characterized by a harmonious balance between functionality and aesthetics.
This led to a pivot to healthcare design following the Covid-19 pandemic, where she recognises and understands how her expertise in hospitality design can introduce innovative solutions that elevate patient-centric healthcare facilities and care. Recent projects in this typology include The Regency Specialist Hospital Extension in Malaysia, and The Solitaire Lounge at Raffles Hospital, Starmed Specialist Centre, Parkway Medicentre and the ongoing redevelopment of Alexandra Integrated Hospital in Singapore.
