Capitol Bistro. Bar. Patisserie Wins INT Design Awards 2026

Spotlighted as a winner of the Commercial Interiors – Hospitality (Restaurant) category at INT Design Awards 2026, Capitol Bistro. Bar. Patisserie demonstrates a sensitive interior and spatial approach that considers the site’s heritage context while imbuing the space with renewed vibrancy.

The design adopts an open and porous layout that combines differing dining needs into one cohesive environment. Designed to maximise spatial efficiency, the patisserie is tailored for shorter-term customers, while the bar’s layout encourages social interactions between sit-down diners. Its modern tropical design foregrounds natural lighting and biophilic elements, effectively bringing nature into the interior space to enhance user comfort.

An Additions & Alterations (A&A) project sited within the conserved Capitol Building, the scheme sought to rebrand the existing interior into a revitalised dining destination for gatherings, celebrations and meaningful interactions. At the same time, thoughtful measures were implemented to address the surrounding environment, spatial volume and user needs, while also aligning the design with wider sustainability goals through reduced embodied carbon.
