DP Design’s The Portico Lounge Wins Singapore Good Design Award

The Portico Lounge has been awarded the Singapore Good Design Award (SG Mark) 2026 under the Spatial Design category. Conferred by Design Business Chamber Singapore, SG Mark is a recognised benchmark of design excellence, celebrating innovative and purposeful design that creates meaningful impact for businesses and communities.

Formerly a back-of-house office, lacking brand identity and functional direction, The Portico Lounge has been transformed into an executive C-suite environment that reflects the client’s hospitality ethos and ongoing rebranding journey. Its design was guided by three considered priorities: living in nature, user-centrism and deep alignment with the client’s spirit of hospitality, resulting in a space that encourages connection, movement and a genuine sense of belonging.

At the heart of the design are flowing marquee-inspired fabric arches that define both communal areas and private offices. Their continuous, uninterrupted lines lend the space a sense of fluidity and openness. Strategically positioned courtyard ensure each suite maintains a connection to nature through either direct landscape views or internal garden elements. Tropical materials and biophilic features extend beyond decorative intent, supporting occupant wellbeing and reinforcing the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Singapore’s sustainability goals for health and environmental resilience.

The workplace is thoughtfully planned to support a variety of functions, including a communal living room for relaxation and social interaction, a social pantry for informal exchange and a boardroom designed for both productivity and hospitality. Individual executive suites adopt a minimalist approach, providing a neutral canvas that occupants may personalise to foster a sense of comfort and ownership. Sustainable features, including energy-efficient lighting, air-conditioning systems and environmentally responsible materials, further contribute to a healthier and resource-efficient work environment.

This recognition affirms DP Design’s belief in designing spaces that go beyond aesthetics — spaces that nurture wellbeing, encourage connection and reflect the identity of those they serve.
